History of the Cambridge Community Center

Cambridge Community Center as the Windridge Tennis Camp, 1970s

The Cambridge Community Center was the original home of the Windridge Tennis Camp. Windridge was started in 1968 by Alden Bryan, a well-known landscape artist. Alden came to Vermont to study painting, fell in love with the region, and settled on a dairy farm in Jeffersonville. His achievements include starting a bakery, restaurant, and an inn, as well as designing the Base Lodge at Smugglers’ Notch Ski Resort. An avid tennis player, Alden partnered with Ted Hoehn, a highly-ranked tennis player, to open the first Windridge Tennis Camp in 1968. The camp operated there until 1988. Later, from 2004 to 2008, the facility served as the Cambridge Tennis Association.  For more information about the history of The CCC as the Windridge Tennis Camp, please visit https://windridgecamps.com/history-and-philosophy
